Explore the city with kids! Between the Central Library, Play Walk and Playground at Martin Luther King Jr. Park, the kids are sure to be entertained! Be sure to walk over to Bite Rochester for lunch!
Parking: Parking meters surround the library and are in service 8 am – 6 pm on weekdays. Street Parking is free on weekends and outside of business hours. You can also park in the Court Street Parking Garage at 194 Court St. Bring your parking ticket to the front desk of the library to validate your first hour.

The Children’s Section
The Children’s section of Central Library is located in the Bausch & Lomb Library Building, directly adjacent to the Court Street Parking Garage. It is on the second floor and can be reached by stairs or elevator.
There are a lot of opportunities for play here! In the preschool section, you may find a small slide, car tracks and more. There is even a “Parent Toolbox” located here with timers and social stories to help with transitions within the library.


Follow the wall of interactive boards to continue onto the Fiction, Audio Book and DVD section of the children’s section.


The Hidden Room
Central Library recently received a renovation to their hidden room! To find it, push open the first bookshelf on the right as you enter the children’s area. If you need help finding it, a librarian is nearby to assist!
Once you enter you will find a play corner and interactive wall!




The Reading Garden
The reading garden can be accessed by heading to the back of the Bausch & Lomb Library Building on the first floor. this area is full of benches and completely enclosed.

The Cafe
On the first floor of the Bausch & Lomb Library Building is the Foodlink Community Cafe! This is a pay-it-forward cafe where any meal can be purchased for a minimum of $2 or you can choose to pay it forward by giving a donation along with the listed menu price.
