Take Me There
The Waterfall
The trail head for the waterfall is easily accessed by taking Linnear Park Drive off Rt 441 and parking in the small lot along the wood line (See map below).
Swimming is not permitted at Channing H Philbrick Park but there are offshoots from the larger creek that makes for a great spot to stop and splash in the water before continuing on the walk. We even saw some tadpoles on our visit! The water access pictured below is quick and easy to get to by entering the hiking trail nearest the main parking area. Head down the trail past the kiosk just a couple of yards and you will see the small creek on your right. However, proceed with caution! The creek feeding into this offshoot may have strong currants and deep waters. This path is not stroller friendly

Venture further and you will see the larger creek with deep waters, strong rapids and even some small waterfalls! The larger waterfall is a bit hidden on the side of the trail opposite of the creek.

If you reach the bridge, you went too far! This trail before the bridge is manageable with a jogging stroller but a carrier may be best here! This is a there and back trail totaling just under 1 mile from the start of the trail to the the end near Linden Ave (Therefore approximately 2 miles there and back).

The Creek Access
Another good spot to check out for creek exploration is off to the right behind the pavilion (along the red trail.) Again, swimming is prohibited, but there are areas with creek bed access along this trail. There are also large rocks along the trail for climbing!

The Stroller Friendly Trail
If looking for a stroller friendly trail, you will find a smooth gravel path beyond the bathroom and swing set. Park behind the park building for closest access. The stroller friendly access is in the northwest corner of the park. Just follow the gravel path through the grassy area to the woods. This too is a there-and-back trail. In fact, it can be followed all the way to the Home Depot on Panorama Trail and beyond! If you make the hike that far, consider grabbing Ice Cream at “What’s ‘Ur Scoop” off of Penfield Road. The hike from Channing Philbrick Park to What’s ‘Ur Scoop is about 1 mile one way.

The Play Area
Picnic tables and a pavilion are located not too far from a swing area. The playground has been removed from this park but a typical and baby swing structure remains.
