Here’s a fun place to go and it’s off the beaten path! Huckleberry Swamp is a hidden gem located in North Rose, New York and you can easily pass by it if you aren’t on the lookout. The path itself is an elevated bridge so it is easy to navigate with a stroller or wheelchair. Bring your camera, there’s a lot of wildlife for you to observe! Hours of operation are Tuesday through Sunday from dawn until dusk. There are also only port a potties available at this location.

The Hiking
In the town of North Rose you will come across a small sign for the hiking trail. Drive up the path and it will open up to a parking lot. This trail is fantastic with raised wooden boardwalk trail throughout for easy accessibility with wheels. Here you will find a great variety of animals in the air and on the ground. Keep your eyes peeled! The path is easy and short as it is a .6 mile loop.
The Fairy Houses
There is a natural fairy house trail at the end of the walking bridge in Huckleberry Swamp. Here you can visit the existing houses and also build your own to add to the trail. This is a part of the trail which gets buggy fast! Please note with this being a swamp there are many mosquitoes- long sleeves and pants as well as bug spray is highly recommended.
