Veteran’s Memorial Park in Penfield is an extensive park with much to offer. What makes this park unique, however, is its exercise trail for kids, which is made up of kid-friendly fitness stations along a short path. The playground is up to date and in great shape. There are also some fairy houses just a short walk from the playground, located directly behind the amphitheater. On the grounds one can also find nature trails, amphitheater, little league complex, soccer fields, picnic pavilion, enclosed lodge for rent, a large paved walking path, tennis courts, basketball court, and a gazebo.

The Playground
The parking lot nearest the playground is off Jackson Road on Veterans Park Way. This playground has a general store, adaptive swing, baby swing and typical swings. There are a couple slides and some fun ways to get up to them. The playground is a good distance from the road and parking lot. Seasonal bathrooms are available beyond the tennis courts. The playground is right next to a fun Tot trail!
The Fitness Trail
Unlike most of the other fitness trails around, this trail at Penfield’s Veterans Memorial Park is for kids only! Labeled the “Tot Trail,” this path contains equipment that is small and simple – fit for any kid or toddler! The tot trail is very short and contains a variety of climbing and balancing structures. It is stroller friendly and right next to the playground. Much of the trail is shaded!
The Amphitheater
The Penfield Amphitheater is a short walk from the Playground at Veteran’s Memorial Park. During the summer months, free concerts and events are held here. Check the Events Calendar for details.
The Fairy Trail
If you venture towards the amphitheater you’ll find some fairy houses made by a local girl scout troop! From the fairy houses, there is a stroller friendly path that leads to the playground and toddler fitness trail!
The Bike Path
This is a great place to practice with the bike or scooter or go for a little jog. The paved path through the park is long and away from the roads and parking lots. It is wide and not heavily trafficked. The path loops in many areas so you can easily decide you desired distance. If you start at the tot trail and take the first left to circle back toward the playground, the loop is just under 1/4 mile.
The Hiking
There are both wooded trails and paved walking trails. The trail is best used March-October and is good for all ages and skill levels. If checking out the fairy houses first, there is an entrance into the woods behind the amphitheater.
The Venue
There is an open Pavilion and the Dolomite Lodge available for rent at Veterans Memorial Park. Both options are very affordable. Dolomite Lodge is fairly close to the playground, fairy houses and tot trail.
